Marian Brown (Petrocelli)

December 12, 1952 - August 18, 2017

Marian Frances Petrocelli, age 64, quietly passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on August 18, 2017, in Los Angeles. Marian was born December 12, 1952, in Pomona, California, to Hyman and Lillian Brown. After high school, she entered the University of California at Los Angeles to study music. A gifted singer, musician, and songwriter, she pursued a career in music, performing in Los Angeles' most well-known hotels in the 1970s. In 1974, Marian married Daniel Petrocelli. After the birth of their first child, she left her career as a professional musician but continued composing and singing original music, served as a choir director, and gave music lessons. The gift of song she brought to the world graced everyone. Diagnosed with brain cancer in her early thirties, Marian survived for more than three decades, living to raise and love her children into adulthood and to know three grandchildren. She was guided by deep spiritual faith and was committed to compassion and forgiveness. She gave often to numerous charities and came to the assistance of strangers in need. The joy, laughter, and carefree spirit Marian possessed were a delight to her family and friends. Marian is survived and dearly missed by her daughter Rachel Petrocelli; son Adam Petrocelli; mother Lillian Brown; brothers Jerry Brown and Harry Brown; and granddaughters Sora Petrocelli, Sophie Petrocelli, and Emmanuelle West. In her music, she forever remains with them and with all those whose lives she touched. Funeral services will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 3pm. Memorial donations in Marian's name may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Stroke Association
