Woman Dies as Car Falls in White Ave. Constructionn Ditch
A 20-year-old woman was killed and her passenger slightly injured when her car plunged into a Metropolitan Water District construction ditch early Saturday afternoon.
Police say Laura Jean Hesselgrave was proceeding southbound on White Avenue when she went through a detour sign and struck a dirt embankment near Chester Street four blocks north of Holt Avenue. The car went over the embankment and landed upside down in a ditch.
Thomas A Clayton, the passenger, was treated at Pomona Valley Hospital for minor injuries and released.
Police withheld the address of both Miss Hesselgrave and Clayton.
