Carl was born in Hunt, Idaho.  Carl graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Portland State University.  He was a Army veteran and served in Vietnam.

In 1970 he married Kathy Terry of Cotton Valley, LA.  In 1974 Carl & Kathy moved back to Portland.  Carl worked many years as a designer for engineering firms.  He retired in 2010 after 26 years from the Harris Group.  Carl enjoyed riding his bicycle.  He would ride 6 - 7 miles a day.  He also was an avid gardner.  He was especially proud of his flower garden.  He also enjoyed attending the Blazer games as well as watching them on TV.  He was a holder of the Black Belt in Judo.  He enjoyed being a member of the Obukan Judo Dojo.

He is survived by his wife Kathy, brother Jimmy his wife Mary Ann, his sister Susan and her husband Robert Kurimoto, nephew and nieces and grandnephew David.
