Richard Allan YoungNov. 27, 1945 - Feb. 23, 2017 Having been "emergency" hospitalized for 10 days in wondrous Portland Adventist Medical Center, my DEAR RICHARD ("Ray," "Dick," "Uncle Dick") passed peacefully, Feb. 23, 2017, being freed from pain/suffering following a long, "combinational" struggle. I, his wife Jeannie, was by his side as I was throughout our 38 year marriage. Our nephew, Perry, was also present from the beginning. Richard and I met in 1976 thru "divine Intervention" Labor Day weekend, both being hospitalized (twice)…alongside many precious people. We married May 6, 1979 and the Divinity, "JESUS," held us totally, being "twice" wrapped by His Hand and He wrapped by God's Hand (Dr. Harold Salem explained this concept on Christian Worship Hour from Aberdeen, S.D.; airing Sun. 10 am, channel 32-1 C.W. Portland, OR. Born in Portland, Nov. 27, 1945 to the Love/Protection of Victor and Agnes Young, Richard was the youngest of "eight," beautifully "blest" children. He had the guiding care and life assistance from four older brothers and three older sisters. Along with them, as a toddler, he experienced "Vanport" and also Waverly Baby Home for a portion of time. Through younger times, Richard attended many grade schools, enjoyed "bike" riding and "swimming" at YMCA! He graduated from Jefferson H.S. being known as a "warm, friendly, caring, fun, charming, and outgoing guy!" Despite his charm, he was also known for having strong opinions and being happy to share them! After enrollment at PSU for 1½ years Richard enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps R. (K) at Camp Pendleton, Calif., majoring in Bus. Admin. He held Specialty Title "Fld Rad Opr" and Related Civilian Occupation as "Radio Operator." His character of service defined as "HONORABLE/ with good conduct being awarded a "Marksman Badge," a M-14 Rifle plus a "National Defense SERVICE Medal." Richard Appreciated several employment opportunities…plumbing (apprenticeship), Miller Paint, Freightliner, and Columbia Steel Shelving aka Birkenwald (10 years). The majority of his years were spent in "home repair," founding his business, "Young Busters," which satisfied him and kept him quite busy. Also during this time, while living in residence, he helped "maintain" the Waukeena Apts. (3 yrs. Jim/Carol Raze) and The Wilcox Manor (5½ yrs. Ken/Mary Lou Guenther). All through those 20+ years he also ENJOYED the "inspiration" and friends involved with "handball" at The Court Club (Bill Flowers). Full of life's "adventures" he traveled Portland to Alaska, to Vancouver & Victoria, B.C. and to Mexico. He enjoyed extensive sightseeing throughout OR, WA, ID, NV, CA, and the "joys" of swimming & sailing on the Columbia River. Preceded in death (in order) by his precious father and mother, precious brothers, Victor, Marvin (Jackie) and Harvey (Gail): his precious sister, Ann (as well as "God-Ordained" friend Larry Winslow (1/10/17) who followed his wife Desiree). Richard is survived by his Precious wife, Jeannie, precious sister Ella, precious brother Manford (Barb), precious sister Esther, and many adoring, precious nieces and nephews. He holds a special place in each of their hearts and will be dearly missed. It brings all comfort knowing he loved and was "devoted" to the Lord Jesus Christ, his personal Savior and is now in the company of loved ones who arrived in heaven ahead of him. Upon nearing his own death, he "Glowed" in realization of God's Creations, the Truths of the Holy Bible, and believing God's GRACE thru child-like "faith" into real, inner Peace and Salvation! Especially notable, in 1999 Richard turned from alcohol, and later to "abstinence" from all smoking, taking great "issue" with a new freedom from "pot." Richard walked with his "SOUL" in every "SHOE" on Earth - a man of unbelievable strengths & passions! A leader who Loved & Lived was AMONGST us! My Great Personal Loss is Heaven's Gain! Predicaments and needs of the "homeless" were of forthright importance to Richard's and my hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Portland Rescue Mission, The Salvation Army, or City Team. He will "Remain" where he retired, in Peace at our earthly "home" of 25 years, the result of our "Blessed" Nephew Perry. Lord willing, a future-wise gathering will be held for a joyous celebration of his uniquely-beautifully characterized life!MY "Thank You" to each one who "touched" his (our) life, especially with supporting prayers. So special/important! 'Til we meet again, "here's to You 'Our Beloved Richard Allan Young' Forever and Forever - Praise The Lord!!!! In the Name of Jesus, Thank You Heavenly "FATHER"!Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonlive.com/obits
