My Ibiene. I remember you today as always. Somehow on the quiet side but NO LOOK FOR HER TROUBLE. OH. Ibiene though the cold hands of death snatched you away from your five lovely kids, your spirit still lives on. Your sister NIMI has been an angel to the lovely men and women you pampered till the end. Rest in perfect peace dear girl.
Ibiene, your death is a tragic one but through the years we have learned to cope and reconcile. We may never understand but we shall always remember. I think back to the days when you and Nimi "landed" in FGC ouzing international exposure. Your family was in the diplomatic community and you had traveled far and wide to Mexico, Japan and many parts of Europe. One of my fondest memories was singing a song on stage with you called Santa Lucia. I sang in English and you sang the same song in Japanese. 'Till today I can still sing this beautiful song in both languages. Ibiene, here's to you: The Star of Eve:
"See where the star of eve beams gently yonder
See where from west away, soft breezes wander
All down the silver track, twilight is falling
Far, oh so far away, sweet songs are calling
Come then our night is over
Come leave the night is gone
Santa Lucia, Santa Lucia!"

Rest with the lord our dearest Ibiene, you are gone but never forgotten!
How can I forget Ibiene. I sat directly in front of her in 1C. She got me severally into the noise makers list because I was always turning back to gist/argue/quarrel with her, and John James would only see me talking and not Ibiene. We argued about whose nose was longer or "overpointed". She was one of the few females i could call my friend in those confused teenage days. A genuine person with an open heart. I believe that she is resting in peace from this troubled world of hours.
I am grateful, for your taking the time to post memories of Ibiene. Ibiene's oldest child was 13 yrs, her youngest child 5 yrs old when she died. I wish to be able to pass along to them, more understandings of their mum's personalitybefore she became a mother.
I always do a double take whenver I see Ibiene's name in print anywhere. [She is not alive anymore for me to try to contact]. She did live her life though, to the fullest whenever she could. But there was, there is yet a lot she had to live for and a lot she had to do - for her children, her family, her friends , herself .....and yes, for me Nimi, her sister.
My mother raised Ibiene, and all her children well.
May the souls of Ibiene and Leticia Abili rest in peace..

I remember Ibiene with a smile. I say no more. Nimi, rest assured that your dear sister and Mum are resting in peace with the Lord.
