David Joe Portilla 53 went to his heavenly home on Monday, June 27, 2016 in Menard. 
He was born August 5, 1962 in Port Lavaca to Joe and Lena Portilla. David had a large loving family that consisted of two brothers and five sisters.

He graduated from Calhoun High School in 1980. He learned carpentry from his father and that was his passion, he was a devoted father and loving husband. 

David is survived by his wife Cheryle Spoons Portilla, his parents Joe and Lena Portilla, son Jon and daughter-in-law Sierra, daughter Thailese, son Justin and daughter Kristen Faith, also survived by grandchildren Matthais, Ally, Elliana, Uriah, Aria and his little friend Maddox, sister-in-law Charlotte and husband Jaime, sisters; Pat and husband James, Carolyn and husband Mark, Pam and husband Rusty, Priscilla and Isabel; and brothers Wayne Portilla and Conrad Gonzales. 

David was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, one sister Martha Ann and brother Donnie. 

A celebration of David’s life will be on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Calvario Baptist Church in Menard. God Bless you all.
