Michael Anthony McCarty, 41, of Houston and formerly of Port Lavaca died on Friday, Aug. 30, 2002.
He was born July 10, 1961 in Port Lavaca, the son of Wiley McCarty and Ruth Haynes McCarty of Port Lavaca. He was married to Dorothy Johnson McCarty of Houston. He was employed by Fish Construction Inc. of Houston.
In addition to his wife and parents, McCarty is survived by a daughter, Natasha McCarty of Houston; two sons, Michael Anthony McCarty II and Marcus McCarty, both of Houston; four sisters, Shirley Sorrell of Victoria, Beverly Underwood of Port Lavaca, Esther Jackson and Teresa Morris of Houston; three brothers, Falous, Larry and Dwayne McCarty, all of Houston.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Temple of Faith located at 419 N. Colorado in Port Lavaca. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church located at 301 Alcoa Drive in Port Lavaca. Betty Joyce Crowder of God's Word in Deliverance Apostolic Faith Church of Houston will be officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery near Port Lavaca. Pallbearers will be Cleotis Washington, Joe Leonard, Harry Clay, Bobby J. Huff, Edward Wonten and Edgar Allen. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Leonard, Floyd Robinson Sr., Keelyn Underwood, Bobby Jackson, Marvin Sorrell and Anthony Morris.
