Deceased Classmate: Rick Brown
Date Deceased: May 25, 2015
Age at Death: 62
Cause of Death: Melanoma cancer
Classmate City: Gaithersburg, MD
Survived By: Wife, Sue three sons Josh, Tim, Ben three grandsons.

Rick was a devoted husband, Wonderful dad, and a long time friend of mine since 1965. Rick and Sue were married for 40 years. Rick also worked at the Association of general contractors for 40 years. About five years ago Rick was diagnosed with malignant melanoma and fought the battle well. He won the prize of eternal life with the Lord Jesus Christ! Rick was a pastor at his local church and touched many lives with his corny jokes, interesting stories and endless adventures of his golf outings. I will always miss Rick's infectious smile and gentle spirit. I am so blessed that I was able to have Rick as a friend.

Rick was also my neighbor and a good friend. Tall and lanky shooting the hoops. I think he knew every Simon and Garfunkel song. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I echo the words of Rick Bradley and Bob Bradley, and will miss Rick Brown too - Rick was a good friend, nice guy and gentle spirit.  My love goes out to his family.

As we say in this part of the world, "may his memory be for a blessing."

Fond memories of Rick in high school. I am glad he had such a rich life. I know it is difficult for his family and those of you who stayed close, because for me, here in Texas, I have a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Yes, RIP, Rick.

Rick,

Was a genuinely nice guy with a big heart. I read his note to Ginny Galliher(Nelson) and it reminded me of his fine nature. I feel confident that he has a place reserved for him in Heaven. My heartfelt condolences to his family and everyone else that had the good fortune to know him.

I was at High Point College with Rick for two years, and Rick would invite me to Christian meetings and give me Christian tracts which I would just put in a drawer.  But through his kind persistance, a seed was planted and took root in my heart.  I am eternally grateful for his friendship and persistance and look forward to the day when we can hang out in Glory.

When I think about Rick and the life he lived, I am reminded of these few verses from Psalm 1:
Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
    or stand around with sinners,
    or join in with mockers.
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
    bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do.

Rick's life was certainly a life well lived....

My thoughts and prayers for his wife, Sue, their three sons and three grandsons.

Just a follow up on Rick Brown......A beautiful celebration of his life was on Monday June first.  There must have been 300+ people in the church which was standing room only.  His wife, Sue, gave a wonderful message of hope to all of us!  His three sons all spoke of their dad and brought tears to my eyes.  They are fine young men and loved their dad dearly.

There were many folks from his work....the Association of General Contractors, where he has been a loyal employee for forty years.  Plus, Rick was a pastor at Northgate Church and many members attended.

Again, I will miss Rick so much.  He was my first college room mate and I was his best man at his wedding.  His approach to life and devotion to the Lord brought many to Christ through his actions. He opened our 40th reunion with a prayer.  Rick loved LIFE!

At the end of the service they played Rick's favorite song  "Bridge over troubled water" and showed pictures of his life.  Again, tears.

One last thing.....Rick was an event planner for AGC.  The best at that!  I am sure he is planning a super event for all of us in heaven and looks forward to an everlasting reunion of Churchill classmates!!
