John was a wondeful guy, always laughing, just great to be friends with him. Let's hope our children don't have to deal with death due to cancer like we have.
My Mom sent me the Washington Post article after John passed away and I cried. John was one of my favorite friends at Churchill. I spoke with Gene not too long after. I will try and track Gene down. He was living in VA with his wife. John had been with IBM's consulting and federal marketing division before joining another company. He was an IBM consultant in government sales in Moscow. I never realized John and Gene were from such a large family. 9 children! John is missed.
John Hibbert, truly one of the kindest people at Churchill. I am so sorry he is gone. But aren't we lucky to still have Gene. Let's try to find him so we can give him a hug.
John was one of my best friends in high school. Chris Hankin, Nancy Shultis, myself, and John were always together. He was one of the brightest people I have ever met. He never said an unkind word to anyone and he was a great person. I always knew he would be successful because he had a positive outlook on life. I was very sorry to hear he was gone. Cancer attacks such random victims--I always ask myself, what could we have done to prevent whatever it was that made it take that particular life. So I just send money to research foundations in the hopes that someday we will know why. John Hibbert is missed in this life.
I met John and Gene at Our Lady of Mercy School when I was 11 - I never could figure out which one to like the best. I just learned of John's death and it saddens me so. John was so bright and kind and we have lost a wonderful person. I had not seen John in many years, but thought of him so often and will always consider him a friend. I will miss him greatly.
I always loved the Hibberts - they were nice and fun to all. What a shock to find out that we lost John so early to cancer - 48 - so so sad. We need to find a cure! I hope Gene is coming to the Reunion so we can all give him a big hug.

John & Gene Hibbert were always shining lights in my class from 5th grade at OLM through high school gradtation at WCHS. Always fun and friendly, they were quick-witted (both smart and funny) and not averse to good-natured mischief (as Sr Charlene aptly put it). John was a natural leader - kind & generous and usually topped the class in math. He is missed.

Look at that photo of John and that smile. The smile says it all! He had a huge heart and I remember his kindness to everyone.
