In Memory

Randall Stradling

Randall Stradling

Randy and I were good friends during 10th / 11th grades, though we drifted in other directions by senior year. We regularly hung out together, usually after school at his house. He had the place to himself until dinnertime, and we could crank up the tunes top volume. Randy loved music – really had open ears for anything. He spent a lot of time at Record Town just down the street at the Cabin John center, where he befriended the owner. He got paid in records for help in the shop until he was old enough to go on the payroll, but still took much of his pay in trade. He brought home tons of records, and introduced me to a lot of new music, fueling what became a compulsion of my own. I knew him as a good guy, devilish and funny, excitable and goofy - and often moody and quiet, too. I’m sorry to hear he passed, too soon for any of us.

His obituary is available online.
