John (Jay) Brawner
I helped Maureen bury Scott at sea. She had mixed his ashes with concrete, creating a flat gargoyle like form decorated with various stones and shells that they had collected during their life together. After a few words, we tossed him over the rail of an old wooden trading schooner, which at the time, was appropriately flying the skull and crossbones.
A lot of secrets went with Scott to the bottom that day; and not without some irony, an unopened bottle of Bacardi.
