Our classmate, Troy Lovely, passed away on January 30, 2026. An obituary has not been published yet but the following is a thoughtful tribute from his daughter, Brooke Sullivan. An update will be posted when an obituary has been released.
"A little over a week ago we found out that my father had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Connective Tissue Disease. It progressed to the point that he was no longer able to breath on his own. He was placed on a ventilator, and flown to Boston where we began the process of getting him on the list for a double lung transplant. Unfortunately, due to the severity of his disease, he was found to not be a viable candidate for a transplant.
Thursday I flew to Boston to begin the next stages for end of life care. Before that began, I was given the option of donating any other organs he’d qualify for to save someone else. My father wasn’t able to have a second chance — But last night at 10 PM I received a call that three individuals do in my fathers honor:
A male in his 30s has a new liver.
A male in his 60s has a new kidney.
A male in his 50s also has a new kidney.
It’s no secret that my father and I haven’t had a great relationship since I was young. But through this there has been silver linings and forgiveness.
I want to acknowledge the outstanding care and compassion of Massachusetts General Hospital and New England Donor Services through this entire experience"
