What I've been doing since high school:

Well, because of the urging of my overachieving Mother, I began at BYU Summer of 1979! I continued straight through until I graduated Spring 1983 in Elementary Education. By then I had been married a year and a half to Cory Evans. I met him through my sorority, Vakhnom, he was in our "brother" fraternity, Sam Hall. His parents also moved into my parents home ward while he was on his mission, and both sets of parents encouraged us to get together. We had our first child, Whitney Anne, while we were both students at BYU. What were we thinking????? Cory was thinking of going to medical school until we got married and he saw the way my Father worked. Then he changed his plans to dental. We left the "innocence and purity" of Happy Valley and went to dental school at the University of Washington in St. Louis. During our four years there we made great friends and had our second child, Christopher Mark. Our best friends in St. Louis turned out to be Blake and Jenny Nielsen from Timpview Class of '79, who ended up out in dental school a couple of years behind us!!! We moved to Salt Lake City where my husband completed a dental residency at the University of Utah. After that year we ended up purchasing the practice of a retiring dentist here in Salt Lake, and Cory currently has his practice on Highland Drive. We had our third child, a son, Kallen Cory, after coming back to Utah.
For years I was a stay-at-home Mom, helping out at the office whenever needed. I worked in the PTA and spent a lot of time in my kids schools while they were growing up. I have also kept busy in the church, in different callings. My husband Cory has been the Bishop of our ward. We love our annual family trips to Lake Powell, and we love boating and camping. We love to spend time down in St. George where we have a family condo. We have two grandchildren, both of them belong to our daughter, Whitney, and both of them are too far away, in Ann Arbor, Michigan!! But I love being a Grandma, and I don't even mind being called that, although it took a while to sink in. In 2007 I decided to go back to school and enrolled in the Substance Abuse Counselors program up at the University of Utah. It was a one year program, and I really enjoyed going back to school, even though I was 44 and didn't even know if my brain worked anymore! It turned out that it did, and I graduated from that program. I did my internship at the Salvation Army, and really learned to love what those people are doing. Then I got a job working as Intake Supervisor for Odyssey House Inpatient. It is a pretty hard core program with hard core clients. I learned a lot and after about nine months of working four nights a week until ten o'clock and later I was missing seeing my husband and son that is still at home. I am currently a stay-at-home Mom and Grandma again and enjoying every second of it!
