What I've been doing since high school:

After Timpview I studied organic chemistry (thanks to the influence of Paul Fore -- sorry we lost him last year) at Harvard (with an 18 month interlude for a mission to Vienna, Austria) and then went to medical school at Stanford (after wearing a Stanford sweatshirt most of my teenage years it seemed somehow like closing the circle). I did a residency in Urologic surgery in the Stanford hospital system but became involved in drug development and moved into the pharmaceutical industry. I've spent the last 14 years living in Tokyo and working in a pharmaceutical company in drug safety and clinical development. My wife Anna (who came to the US as a Vietnamese refugee about the time we were graduating from Timpview) and I have three boys.

I remember when...

I knew many of you because I was in Joyce Oldroyd's and Gladys Nelson's English classes with the class of '79.
I remember debate trips with the forensic team under Mr (Roger the) Moore, drama productions with Chris Brower, and finding out how cool science could be under Paul Fore. Looking back I'm impressed at the lasting influence our teachers had on me.
