Scott Arlin Waters of Provo, Utah age 60 passed away on Sept 7, 2023 at home with his love Tammy by his side.

 

Scott was born March 26, 1963 in Provo Utah to Arlin and Judy Waters. He is the oldest of 5 children.

 

When Scott was young he loved going camping at Joes valley which was Scott’s Heaven on Earth! He also spent a lot of time in lake Powell with his family and friends.

 

Scott attended the New Timpview High School where he was a member of the marching band and played the drums and was also the percussionist. After graduation Scott attended Utah Valley University where he received his associate degree in Heavy Wheel Mechanics!

After college Scott joined the United States Army where he served from 1983-1987 at Fort hood Texas! He was a 63 Bravo heavy wheel mechanic! His unit was called Hell on Wheels!

Being in the military was one of his greatest honors. Scott earned the rank of E4 before leaving the Army and that came with many awards and medals that he proudly earned!

Scott got his dream Job after that following Merle Haggard around taking photographs of his concerts, it was a dream job of his as Merle was one of his favorites.

 

Scott wore many hats in life. He worked at Geneva Steel as a slag haul operator, he was a bartender at the Provo Elks , a delivery driver for Woodstuff landscape Supply, worked for Provo city Parks and Rec, Springville city Parks and Rec, and for UDOT where he was part of the paint crew and plow crew.

 

Scott earned his Lifetime membership at the Elks and at the time of his passing held the position of Trustee.

 

Scott loved to cook, something he got from his mother. You could always find him in the kitchen canning homemade jam, baking cakes or cookies and bottling some kind of vegetable all while singing to Merle, Willie, Johnny or Jimmy Amongst a hundred others.

 

Scott had a deep love and appreciation for music. If there was a guitar around he would sit and pick by himself or with friends. Scott had a beautiful voice and absolutely loved to sing.

He bought his first guitar for $60 while he was in the military and  taught himself to play…just like Johnny Cash!

 

He had a love for old steam trains, old westerns, and loved to read, tell jokes, and give everyone a hard time about things, he had an amazing sense of humor and wit about him. He was a member of the Desert Hell Rats for over 40 years and he was so honored to have those friendships throughout his adult life.

Scott was married a few times but nothing seemed to work. The last was to Lela Faux they were married from 204-2010 , they later divorced but still remained very close friends. He then met Tammy at the Elks lodge in Provo… they had a million adventures together. Lake Powell, the Cabin, side by side rides, camping, boating, hunting, they loved NASCAR and made lots of memories going to watch it live. They attended numerous concerts all over the U.S. Together they built an amazing life together! Tammy was the love of his life and his best friend. Through thick and thin they stuck it out together!

 

Scott will be greatly missed by so many, his laughter and friendly personality and kindred spirit will live within us all!

 

Scott is survived by his girlfriend Tammy, his sister Dana (David) Puddington,  Brother Kevin (Linda) Waters and Brother Chris Waters, and Brother in law Dwayne Huffaker along with many nieces and nephews and Tammy’s daughters and grandchildren.

 

He was proceeded in death by his Father Arlin, Mother Judy, Sister Carrie, Tammys son Todd, his grandparents and lots of close family and friends!

 

His Viewing will be held on Wednesday Sept 13,2023 at Walkers-Sanderson 187 South main in Spanish Fork from 6-8 PM.  There will be a graveside service on Sept 14, 2023 at 11:15 AM where he will receive the Elks Funeral service and his Military Rites.

 

There will be a Celebration of life at the Provo Elks lodge in his honor after his service. Location: 1000 south University Avenue Provo, Utah.
