Leonard Rivera

Leonard Arthur Rivera, 57, passed away June 9, 2006, after a lengthy illness. Leonard was born Nov. 6, 1948, in Pueblo, Colo., to Gregory and Gloria Rivera. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory N. Rivera; and father-in-law, Walter C. Olmstead. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy; children, Gregg (Beverly), Regina and Anthony (Valerie); grandchildren, Brianne, Lea and Dominick; mother, Gloria; brother, Jerry; mother-in-law, Ramona Olmstead; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Selena Jaramillo, Ronnie and Kathy Garcia, Judy Olmstead, Gary and Brenda Olmstead and Alan and Jennifer Olmstead; special godsons, Alan Olmstead, Frank Jaramillo Jr. and Carl Cordova; and numerous nieces and nephews. Leonard graduated from Pueblo Centennial High School in 1966, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving a tour in Korea. Leonard was employed at the CF&I Steel Corporation for 15 years and retired from the State of Colorado in 1998. He loved his family and friends and adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed music, dancing, sporting events and the large family gatherings. Leonard was very proud of all his nieces and nephews and was supportive of them in all their endeavors. He had a cheerful and sweet personality and had many, many friends. Leonard's optimism and courage through all the surgeries, treatments, and experimental procedures is an inspiration to us all. His determination to get well never wavered
