She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben Hash, Sr., Eula Hash Gaither; stepfather, Raymond Gaither, Sr., other siblings. She was a 1979 graduate of Pulaski County High School. She graduated from Radford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and minors in Psychology and Social Work.
