Thomasine Cathey Talbert, age 92, of Winnsboro, passed away February 23, 2023.  she was a retired educator having taught in Como-Pickton and Winnsboro.

Thomasine was born April 4, 1930, in Quitman to Bessie Maud and Campbell Cathey.  On October 8, 1949, Thomasine married Carl Talbert in Quitman.

Thomasine graduated from Quitman High School in 1946.  She received her Bachelor of Science in 1965 and Master's of Education in 1976 from East Texas State University.  She was also initiated into the Delta Gappa Gamma Society in 1971.  In addition, Thomasine was an active member of the Winnsboro Church of Christ.

Thomasine was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Carl.  She is survived by her son Tommy Carl Talbert (Sharon); two daughters, Cathey Weaver and Kimberly Murley; one brother, Emery Cathey (Ann Zene); and sister-in-law, Kay Talbert Rose.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great=grandson.

The Talbert family wishes to express gratitude for the excellent care provided to Thomasine by Susie Cadena, Shirley Carden, Marcie Duffey, Lisa McFarland, May Etta Shirley and the Gentiva Hospice team of T.J. Looney and Kasey Ward.  These people among many brought so much joy to Thomasine's life, and the family will be ever thankful.
