John McNamee

Gerald Louis Lichtenheld, 76

Gerald Louis Lichtenheld passed away at the age of 76 in Irvine, CA at the Kaiser Permanente hospital on October 7, 2019 due to complications that started with his heart.

Gerald is survived by his eldest son, Jerome Lichtenheld, and his youngest brother, Jim Lichtenheld and his family, Krista, Louis and Alan. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Hisae Lichtenheld (68), and youngest son, John Louis Lichtenheld (21).

Gerald (who liked to go by Gerry) was a good man. He was a great father and lovable husband. He was born and raised in Racine, WI, but raised his family in Southern California. He served in the US Navy for almost 10 years during the Vietnam War, and during this time is when he met his wife while stationed in Japan. After his time in the navy, he worked at the naval ship yard in Long Beach, CA and retired from there right before they closed it down. He enjoyed bowling and playing in leagues for most of his retirement and winning a lot of trophies and recognitions. He loved playing JRPGs (video games) and watching baseball and football on TV. He was a very friendly person and loved talking to people. He will be greatly missed.

No service is planned, but you can visit him at the Guardian Angel wall right next to his wife and son at the Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster, CA.
