Gary Masik

Gary Masik

Gary M. Masik, 76, passed away at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center on Saturday, June 3, 2023, surrounded by his three children. He was born in Racine on October 25, 1946, the son of the late Julius P. and Catherine R. (nee: Matern) Masik.

Gary proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. On July 18, 1970, he was united in marriage to Deena Mae Wheeler, his high school sweetheart. He loved and honored her and their vows well beyond her death on May 19, 1998. Gary was a longtime employee of Danfoss Inc. until retiring in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, listening to 1950s and 1960s music (he could name every group and song just by hearing the first few notes…and usually had a story to go along with it), and cheering on “his” Green Bay Packers and New York Yankees. He also loved animals, especially his dog, Emmet.

Surviving are his three children, Nathan (Bethany) Masik, Elizabeth Masik, all of Racine, and Annalisa (Sam) Bousaid, of Orlando, FL; two grandchildren, Selah and Declan; sisters, Judy Andersen, Sharyn Masik, and Darlene Masik; brothers, Ronald (Betty) Masik, and David (Jean) Masik. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends also survive him. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Witte, and brother, Thomas Masik.

His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. His burial will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m.

Gary was a true character. One time at Park he pegged an orange at Ms Perlmutter while a cohort held the door open. She saw me in the hall and I was sent to Mr. Ludeman's office. When asked about it I said it wasn't me. When asked who it was I replied that I wouldn't tell. Faced with expulsion I asked Mr. Ludeman  for 1/2 hour to talk to the guilty. It was granted so I went to Gary ane explained the situation. To his credit he turned himself in. He'll be missed.
