Jo Caudle, affectionately known as Cookie, was born on August 4, 1943, in Montgomery, Alabama and passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Villages of Dallas.

Cookie began her life in Alabama but soon moved to North Carolina. She was the only child of parents, James Elvin Caudle and Ester Susan Honeycutt Caudle. After coming to Texas, Cookie received her BA in Music from The University of Texas at Dallas in 1983.

She is survived by a number of cousins still residing in North Carolina.

Cookie invested her life in her work at H& R Block, needlepoint, music and love of cats.

She was a faithful member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas, and enjoyed the fellowship there for many years. Rev. Molly Jones and others from the congregation provided support and love for Cookie during her brief and unexpected illness.

Cookie was a member of the DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a Charter Member of the World War II Memorial Society.

Cookie was loved by many friends, among them, special lifelong friend, Dana Beers, who lovingly cared for her throughout the last days of her life.

Cookie continued working until the last weeks of her life and provided a model of engaged senior living for many to see. She was always on her way somewhere with something to do for someone.

She was best known at the Villages for her love of music, working jigsaw puzzles outside the Chapel doors, visiting interesting destinations on outings and excursions and her fondness for her beloved cat.

Cookie added life to everything she touched...her beautiful cottage at the Villages was filled with her needlepoint and other treasured collections she gathered across the years. Her style was unique, warm and inviting and her home was a perfect reflection of these qualities.

Cookie loved music, and often shared her gifts at the piano during Vesper Services and on special holiday occasions at the Villages. Her annual “Holiday Party” was a true gift to all and her gracious hospitality will certainly be missed during the coming season.

There are many lovely pianos located throughout the Villages and Cookie’s benevolent heart assured they were in tune throughout the year. We are deeply grateful she made sure all enjoyed beautiful sounds of music throughout The Villages.

Cookie will be fondly remembered by all at The Villages of Dallas and laid to her final resting place at the Oakwood Cemetery in beautiful Raleigh, North Carolina.

Service details are pending.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the SPCA, Cookie’s favorite Charity. Please designate your donation for the care of cats.

Those of us who were privileged to know and love Cookie will carry her in our hearts until we meet again.
