Career
Graduated 1969, Mechanical Engineering, went to work for Western Electric in Greensboro, NC in their Defense Activities Division. Stayed in Greensboro until 1972 when I was transferred to St. Louis where I worked in various engineering and engineering management positions for the next 24 years. Completed an MS in Industrial Engineering during my time in St Louis. Transferred to Atlanta in 1996 to work in the Lucent (renamed Western Electric) fiber optic cable plant. Held engineering and operations positions there for two years and moved to a lucent corporate position in Alpharetta, GA in 1999.
We stayed in Alpharetta until 2001 when I retired! The majority of my career was in engineering the Western Electric, Lucent Technologies, AT&T supply chain. A total of 32 years with one corporate entity.
Family
Married the lovely vivacious and intelligent Michele Tew in June of 1970. Many of you may remember Michele, she went to Meredith, and we dated our senior year. We will celebrate our 45th anniversary next June. Michele worked for IBM until we had our first baby boy.
Current
After retiring in 2001 we sold our Atlanta house and moved to Lake Keowee, South Carolina. Lake Keowee is in upstate SC about 12 miles from Clemson and 40 miles south of Greenville, SC. We absolutely love lake living—it’s a dream come true. And we really enjoy watching all the ACC teams play football and basketball at Clemson.
Last year my brother Bill, (whom many of you know—Delta Epsilon, class of 1971) and his wife retired and moved to the lake from Baltimore. My beer bill has gone up substantially!
