After graduating from NC State in May of 1971 with my Materials Engineering Degree, I moved to Austin, Texas in order for first wife to finish school at UT, which is perhaps why I have become a devoted Aggie fan. Sold insurance for a year then joined GCR Group which at the time had 8 Firestone franchises in the State of Texas. Over the next 12 years, my partners and I were able to grow GCR to 105 locations and I added a son and daughter to my family. Unfortunately none of this led to marital bliss. My first wife sought greener pastures and I went to law school. Needless to say, the University of Houston Law Center was less than overwhelmed with my 2.01 Sigma Chi Study Hall aided GPA. The LSAT was my friend. Moved to Fort Worth, TX in 1988 and have really enjoyed the last 26 years of trying products liability and commercial construction cases. As always, the third time’s a charm, and I found the love of my life at the Caravan of Dreams. We have been blessed with 17 years of friendship, love, companionship and 8 grandchildren.

Over the years, I was fortunate enough to remain close to my pledge brothers, Rich “Slick” Mackey and Andy Barker. We have shared the good, the bad, and the ugly of the last 47 years with the only constant being the bonds we formed in 1967. We celebrated our 60th birthdays together in 2009 by sailing across the Atlantic on my boat, Dreamette II. I expect to fully retire April, 2015 and look forward to more adventures sailing, skiing, and diving with my brothers and first mate, Faynette. We plan on returning to the mountains of North Carolina and living in Hendersonville 9-10 months a year. I also hope to soon make a future gathering of the Sigma Chi 60’s era brothers.
