Jorman Wade (Butch) Fields graduated from N. C. State University in 1965, and in that same year began his textile career at the J. P. Stevens Company in Greensboro, North Carolina. In 1968, Jorman accepted employment with Universal Textured Yarns, Inc., headquartered in Mebane, North Carolina, and moved to New York City in a position that provided customers with technical assistance. The founders of Universal Textured Yarns, Inc. sold UTY to Dow Badische Company in 1971, and Jorman moved back to North Carolina to be among those who formed Unifi, Inc. in Greensboro, North Carolina. In 1990, Jorman resigned from Unifi, Inc. to form his own company, Textile Network Concepts, Inc. (TNC and TNC Global), where he remains President and CEO.
In 1974, Jorman married Sue Burge Horner, also one of the original limited partners of Unifi, Inc.
Jorman lives with his wife, Sue, in Summerfield, North Carolina, where he enjoys gardening and the outdoors on his 43-acre farm. He also loves living on the beach at his home on Figure 8 Island, Wilmington, North Carolina.
