Christopher Wade was first on the scene in 1971. We somehow managed to earn our Masters degrees while More…working full time and as we added to our family- Thomas Brent in 1974 and Kara Elizabeth in 1978. We have been blessed with two wonderful daughters- in- law (Addy and Anna) and more recently a terrific son- in- law (Tim). We have three grandchildren to date, Wilson Wade Norman (4), Kenneth David Augustus Norman (2), and Samantha Dove Conrad (5 months).

Following graduation I reluctantly put away all of my decks of cards, all but one of my chess sets, and none of my sports equipment, as I became a taxpaying member of what was then a more polite society. After our wedding (many from Delta Epsilon were there 45 years ago) Becky and I were stationed stateside as guests of Uncle Sam as we began our family of three. We have always lived in Reidsville except for our time in the service and for 16 years hobnobbing with the swells in Darien, CT and commuting to NYC and/or to one of the three area airports. We lost Becky's parents and my dad at very young ages to heart disease. I just celebrated my four year anniversary of hopefully my last heart attack but probably not my last stent. I am now in the twilight of a career in the textile industry but still am still enjoying the challenges, travels, and new friendships that continue to come my way. Becky and I volunteer a good many hours (service organizations as well as foundations) while trying to maintain a balance between immediate family (except my still active mom gets all the attention she wants) and extended family, old childhood friends and new acquaintances, as well as work and play. We remember our fraternity fondly and have treasured being with many fellow Sigs over the years and being able to catch up briefly on the news of our Delta Epsilon brothers. My goal is to retain the spirit of youth for as many years as I can while increasing the amount of culture, agriculture, and outdoor living in my life. Not ready for the rocking chair yet but I do find that many are the times just before sleep that I remember the good old days and the way we were.
