Graduated (finally, note: 3x freshman English, not sure if I hold DE record) June 1967, Engineering Operations. Before starting OCS/Navy flight training at Pensacola FL worked as engineering draftsman (thanks to brother, brother Rich) at Lockheed Aircraft, Marietta GA, C-5 aircraft. This was followed by engineering job at Avco-Lycoming (helo engine plant) Charleston SC until USN flight school started Jan 1968. Eye sight was not 20/20, so entered Naval Flight Officer program.

After completing training pipeline for patrol fixed wing type aircraft (P-2/P-3) in Aug 1969, joined squadron VP-23, home base Brunswick, ME, which was deployed to SIGonella, Sicily. Primary operational focus was ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) against Soviet submarines. Search, detect, locate, track and sink ( permission required, too bad).

Over next 15 years while attached to P-3 Orion squadrons operated as Mission Commander in ASW missions over Mediterranean Sea, Caribbean Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans. Specifically deployed/operated from Crete, Sicily, Spain, Azores, Bermuda, both U.S. coasts, Hawaii, Guam, Japan, and Alaska (Adak). Lots of water out there.

When not attached to aircraft squadrons, worked in USN tactical oceanography related jobs, which included living in Eleuthera, Bahamas, 1975-1977) as Executive Officer of a Navy Oceanographic Research base. Squeezed between flying duties were Naval War College and Navy Post Graduate School, MS Computer Systems Management). Also completed MBA Virginia Tech.

Married 1967, coming up on 44 years to Jean Gregory (DE pinned) a Meredith student .

Upon retiring in 1989, have focused on financial stock markets, ski instructing and restoring antique autos (Porsche 356's). Currently in process of navigating medical issues to be able to continue volunteering as ski instructor and supporting Wounded Warrior skiing program.
