Anne Avery (Harlin) VIEW PROFILE

Anne Kathryn Avery Harlin passed away in her home, Sunday, July 31, 2011, in Waco, Texas.

Anne was born July 2, 1971, in Richmond, Virginia. She is the daughter of the Reverend Alan Avery and Edith Allaire Avery. She attended elementary school in Richmond and Marshalltown, Iowa. She graduated from Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, South Carolina, and St Mary's College for Women in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Anne bravely battled breast cancer for eight years. She is often described by those who loved her as the "kindest person I know". Anne was tenacious, an amazing fighter and, in the face of great adversity, never complained, but showed grace and dignity. UT Southwestern Dallas and VistaCare Hospice were instrumental in extending the quality and comfort of her short life.

She was preceded in death by her father; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon S. Avery and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allaire.

She is survived by her mother; beloved son, Edward Alan Harlin; and wonderful step-daughter, Jessika Harlin; sisters, Seeley Holmquist and husband, Edwin, of Mansfield, TX; Sarah Downs and husband, Richard, of Waco; brother, Gordon Stevens Avery II of Chapin, SC; nieces and nephews, Lincoln and Allaire Downs, Scott and Robin Avery, Birgitt, AC and Palmer Holmquist; Avery Hancock, and Celeste Morris.

Thank you very much to all the friends and family who have loved and supported her through this difficult journey.
