Mrs. Sylvia Ann Penny Sloan, 64, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Beacon Place in Greensboro, NC.

Mrs. Sloan's funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13, at Faith Baptist Tabernacle with Dr. Billy A. Young officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Wake County, Mrs. Sloan was born on July 19, 1946, the daughter of the late Robert Samuel and Nell Wilder Penny. She was a member of Faith Baptist Tabernacle, and was employed by Convatec. On July 26, 1969, she married Edward Cecil Sloan.

Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Edward C. Sloan of the home, children Donald Wayne Sloan of Corpus Christi, TX, Stephen Lawrence Sloan and his wife, Catherine, of Greensboro, Susan Amy Sloan of Kernersville, and April Lynn Hennis and her husband, Ricky, of Reidsville; step-children Edward C. Sloan, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV and Dolly Ann Wurst and her husband, Dallas, of Peachtree City, Ga.; a sister Goldie Elizabeth Stokes of Wendell, NC and a brother Robert Earl Penny of Pine Bluff, NC; a sister-in-law Doris Jean Rush, brother-in-law Howard Rush; five grandchildren Darryl Southern, Stephen D. Hennis, Joseph A. Hennis, Matthew L. Hennis, and Addison Prysock, and four step grandchildren Jason Wurst, Aaron Wurst, Justin Wurst, and Dallas Wurst.

She was preceded in death by a brother George Franklin Penny and a sister Teresa Amelia Rhodes.
