Sarah Surles' obituary

Sarah Anne Surles Hall, 64, of Hendersonville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 5, 2010.

She was born August 8, 1946 in Raleigh, NC. She was the daughter of the late Carson Austin and Pearl Ann Surles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hall. 

She was a long-time insurance executive at Associated Insurers in Raleigh. In retirement, she was an avid gardener, bird-watcher and quilter. Sarah’s joys were her children, grandchildren, community, church and friends. She treasured living on Bald Rock Mountain with her late husband and their dogs Sadie Mae and Ella Rella.

She was a member of the first graduating class at Enloe High School in Raleigh. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and the Jim Hall Bible Fellowship Sunday School 

Class. Sarah was devoted to her church and cherished her relationship with the Lord. She was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother and friend who brought joy to all she met. 

She is survived by six children, Carson Dean and his wife, Kris, of Charlotte, Jon Dean, of Hendersonville, Jennifer Dean and Jeremy Brittain, of Raleigh, Karen Byrd and her husband, David, of Raleigh, Stacy Hall his wife, Ivy, of Clarkesville, GA, David Hall and his wife Cindy, of Florence, SC; eight grandchildren, Austin Dean, Gracen Dean, Morgan Dean, Riley Dean, Kaylyn Brittain, Ethan Brittain, Brinson Hall, Lincoln Hall; a brother, Richard Surles; a sister-in-law, Cathy Leto and a niece, Andie and Jeff Forsyth. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville with the Rev. Wally Shamburger officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Coolsprings Cemetery in Forest City, NC.
