Danny (Dan) Ray Morris was born on August 20, 1960 to David and Joanne (Smith) Morris in Rapid City, SD. He was welcomed into his eternal home on August 6, 2025 at the age of 64. He was the devoted husband of Debbie Morris, his wife of 39 years. The high school sweethearts exchanged their vows on April 5, 1986 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was also the loving and adoring father to his two daughters, Brittany Pruess and Marissa McGirr.

Dan graduated from Central High School in 1978. He was the Black Hills Regional Manager for Rochester Armored Car Company from 1985 to 1999, a Monument Health Rapid City Hospital valet employee from 1999 to 2009, a Pennington County Courthouse security officer from 2000 to 2003, and a Monument Health Rapid City Hospital security officer from 2010 to 2012. He spent his remaining years at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital as the lead valet from 2012 to 2025.

Dan was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His time spent on this earth was marked by hard work, dedication, devoted love, service, and the light of our Lord Jesus Christ. His greatest enjoyments were those spent camping with his loved ones, welcoming both strangers and friends who entered the doors of Monument Health Rapid City Hospital, cherishing his children and grandchildren, exploring the beautiful landscapes of Alaska with his beloved wife, and riding through the beautiful Black Hills in his jeep, “Code Blue”.

Dan is survived by his wife, Debbie Morris; his daughters, Brittany (Tanner) Pruess with grandson Nehemiah Pruess and Marissa (Matthew) McGirr with grandson Beckham McGirr; and his siblings, Tim Morris, Scott Morris, and Tammy (Geoffrey) Atherton. He also leaves behind sister-in-laws, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and other extended family and friends who loved him dearly, and who were greatly loved in return.

Dan will forever be remembered for the way he reflected Christ through his service and dedication to the work set before him, the way in which he humbly loved his wife and children, and the love he had for the landscapes of those places he cherished the most. The glimmer in his eyes and his infectious smile have left the mark of love on all who have had the pleasure to meet him and to know him, and his willingness to serve others has encouraged many to go and do the same.

The funeral service for Dan will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 10 am Friday, August 15, 2025.
