     Steven J. Weik, 54, of Mohnton passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE. He was the loving husband of Beth M. (Laudermilch) Weik, to whom he married on May 22, 2004. Born in Reading, he was the son of Evelyn (Brandt) Weik, Cornwall Terrace, and the late Clarence "Clutch" Weik. Steve was a graduate of Holy Name High School in 1979. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Pennsylvania State University in 1983 with a dual major in Electrical Engineering and Nuclear Engineering Technology.

 

 

     During his time at Penn State University, Philadelphia Electric Co. awarded Steve with a 2-year scholarship for his final two years and a paid internship. He also completed a Masters of Business Administration from Saint Joseph's University. He was employed by Philadelphia Electric Co., Liberty Technologies, where he was the Product Manager for digital radiography. Since 1996, Steve has been employed by Enersys, serving as the Vice President of Global Operations Engineering. While working, Steve was a member and contributor to United Way, a reading tutor with the Ready.Set.Read program, served on the Board of Directors for Berks Encore, as well as a huge contributor to multiple charities close to his heart. He also served as a guest speaker for Penn State Berks IAC and the Battery Council International. Steve was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.

     In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by five children: Meghan E., wife of Matthew Nuding, Exeter Twp.; Jillian M. Weik, Mohnton; Courtney L. Weik, Mohnton; Dylan A. Finogle, Sinking Spring; and Nash A. Finogle, Mohnton.  Four siblings: Michael J., husband of Xia Weik, Linglestown; Susan M., wife of Mark Murdock, Mohnton; David P., husband of Deborah Weik, Sinking Spring; and Margaret A. Whiskeyman, Sinking Spring, also survive him. He was predeceased by one brother, Robert D. Weik. Steve was a lover of his wife, Beth, family, friends, the beach and traveling. He enjoyed rides on his Harley, destination trips with family and friends, four wheeling at the cabin in the mountains, his beautiful beach home and his Jack Russell Terrier, Haley. He was a lifelong learner and a teacher and compassionate giver to anyone who crossed his path. He was the epitome of a superhero in his battle with cancer, as well as in every single aspect of his life.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 27, 2015, in St. John RCC, 420 Holland Street, Shillington, PA 19607, with entombment to follow in Gethsemane Mausoleum.  Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m.; both viewings will be held at the church. In lieu of flowers, Steve would like any contributions and donations to be sent to Penn State University THON.
