Christine Schorn (Heebner) - Class Of 1973

 

Christine B. (Schorn) Heebner, 61, of Reading, died May 31, 2017, in her home.

She was the wife of Robert F. Heebner Jr.; they were married on August 13, 1974. Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Henry J. and Catherine M. (Lowery) Schorn.

Christine was a 1973 graduate of Holy Name High School and attended Shippensburg University, where she dove for the varsity team.

She was the head diving coach for 22 years, and was

employed in the food service department for 17 years both at Reading High School. Additionally, Chris spent 44 years coaching various pools and running Berks County Diving as the BCSA Diving Commissioner. She coached and

mentored hundreds of Berks County swimmers and divers during her tenure as a coach and board member in BCSA over the last 40 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by six

children: Jennifer C. Dianna, Mt. Penn; Hillary A. Heebner (Scott Elliott), Coatesville; Robert F. "B-Bop" Heebner III (Jennifer A. née Saylor), Exeter Township; Brooke A. (Ryan P. ) Dower, Sinking Spring; Brehan E.,(Jesse) Kelley,

Clarion; and Travis T. Heebner (Jessica née Weil), Temple.

Two siblings, Michael D. Schorn (Kathy née Hanner) and Mary C. Schorn, all of Reading and 13 grandchildren also survive her.

Christine was predeceased by her brother, Patrick D. Schorn.

Services were Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 10 a.m. in

Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading.
