School Story:

When I tried out for the football team at 120 pounds soaking wet, Coach Sharp fell down laughing and sent me to do statistics for KBLF in the press box. He allowed as how I might get hurt, otherwise. Thus began a long hobby career in sportscasting. I suspect that the coach was absolutely right considering how good the Spartans were in those years.

Sorry to be missing reunion, but I am still teaching full time at the university and it is not a good time to be away with four different classes and 19 Sr. Projects to supervise. I will be thinking of you who are there and I certainly hope that you have a great time together. It hardly seems like it could have been 50 years,-- most days that is. When the arthritis kicks up, it sometimes seems longer. May the time together be good. I guess fifty years is now in the review mirror.

Thanks to all who have sent birthday wishes. It has been a long time since '64, but it is amazing how well you come back to memories when they are called up. I wish that I could have made the reunion, but Ohio was just too far and I am still teaching at the University full time, so getting away just was not possible. I did get into Red Bluff for a day a year ago and was flooded with memories of the really good times that we did have there. I wish that back in those days I might have understood how important those long term friendships can be. I am saddened when I go down the list and see those who are no longer with us. The class of "64 and the teachers that we had have been influential in almost everything that has developed for me since in terms of opportunities that have come my way. Thanks to all of you who have had that influence. Jim
