Ray is one of several RBHS grads that died tragiically at a young age. My fondest memories of him are from an earlier time, prior to high school. My mother knew his father quite well because of the sheep business and I think that is how I first met Ray. I was lucky to spend some time with Ray on one of his father's ranches west of RB. They had a number of Basque sheepherders at the time and I can still taste and smell the fresh bread and other food they cooked in one of their little wagons, where they also lived. What happy times those were with Ray and his Basque family and workers out on the rolling hills of the west side with thousands of sheep. I miss those times and people like Ray and his family.
