Marsha Hye (Amos)

Obituary of Marsha Lee Amos

Marsha Lee Amos passed away on October 5, 2022. She was 78 years old.

She was born in Westwood, California, on April 28, 1944, to Kathryn and William Hye. Marsha is survived by her husband Donald and two daughters Debra Amos-Carlton (husband Chris) and Diana Amos-Brewer (husband Dean).

She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Cristin, Shawn, Alexander, and Claire as well as four great grandchildren, Skylor, Elizabeth, Dean, and Lillian.

Marsha was predeceased by her parents Kathryn and William Hye and two sisters Margaret and Joanne.

Marsha’s family moved to Red Bluff when she was a sophomore in high school. She graduated from Red Bluff High School. In 1962 she married the love of her life and childhood friend Donald Amos. Donald loves to tell a story of his father asking him if he had seen Marsha in town, and if not, he needed to look her up. He took his father’s advice and that was the beginning of their life together. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary this past June.

Marsha’s greatest joy was her family and friends. She adored and spoiled her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Grammy.” She made sure to attend their school performances and sports games.

Marsha had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She loved country music. If you were close by when the music started, you would be required to dance with her. Her door was always open to friends. If you needed someone to lend an ear, she was there for you. Friends and family called it her “tea and toast” time.

She cared deeply for others. She went back to college at the age of 50, where she received her degree and worked as a caretaker for elderly adults. Just as Marsha helped others, we know that she greatly appreciated the hospice staff and nurses as well as the staff at “Visiting Angels” who helped make her final days as comfortable as possible. As her family, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being there for her and for the entire family. We also thank Marsha’s friends who visited each day and who were with her in her final hours.

We are all blessed to have known you, Marsha. You will not be forgotten. We will forever keep you in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff, CA 96080.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Alzheimer’s Association, home office 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
