
Michael Duane Dermer March 12, 1951 ~ October 7, 2016
Michael Duane Dermer left this earth on Friday, October 7, 2016 at his home in Grass Valley. We went peacefully with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer. Mike was born in Redding, California on March 12, 1951 to Oneata and Vern Dermer. His family moved to Red Bluff where he attended Red Bluff schools. He went on to graduate with a degree in Anthropology/Archaeology from UC Davis. In 1986 he met his wife, Jill and they later moved to Grass Valley in 1989 where they built there family home with the help of family and friends. He came to Grass Valley to work at Yuba River Lumber and went on to Agate Sales/Pacific Crest Door until his retirement in 2013. He is survived by his wife Jill; step-son Jared (Debi) Derrick, Paradise; step-grandchildren Layne, Emily, Luke, Paradise; mother, Oneata Hafner, Red Bluff; brother Mark (Rebecca) Dermer, Placerville; sister-in-law Jeri (George) Bloxham-Clements, Gerber; brother-in-law Jeff (Kim) Bloxham, Red Bluff. He is survived by several aunts and uncles as well as nieces and a nephew. He is also survived by his best friend, his dog, Muddy. Mike was preceded in death by his Father, Vern and Brother, Doug Dermer. Per his request, a private gathering will be held at his home at a later date.
