I met my husband, Dave, at UNL and we have been married almost 16 years. He is an Economics professor at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

School Story:

I was always jealous of Amy because she had a trampoline and the best hair!

I wished I had long hair like Steph Kudrna's so it could hide my face from the teachers! Also, Steph was the best dancer in all of Kathy Shaw's dance classes!

I remember not believing Travis Burgess when, in Mrs. Barta's kindergaren class, he told me he was only 4! I was sure you had to be 5 to go to kindergarten. He had to show me on a calendar that his birthday was in September when he would turn 5!

I remember playing Land of the Lost with Travis in the 1st grade.

I remember Scott Kudrna being a stud in dodgeball because he had such long legs. He would jump up and do the splits and the ball would go right underneath.

I remember being competitive with Sarah Cable in everything we did, whether it was running relays during recess or running the 600 yard dash for the Presidential Fitness Test in P.E. Sarah blew by me at the end and set a school record!

I remember racing Dean Pegg in from recess everyday in the 6th grade so I could get Mr. Price's cool black desk chair. Dean always won and I got the less cool orange chair but it was still better than the student chairs. I still think he won because he was 9 inches taller than me!

I remember DeeAnn Keeney having the coolest clothes.

I remember Marcia Garwood had the comfiest couch in her basement. It was orange and we would sit on it and watch Rick Springfield on General Hospital.

I remember Jessica McDole irritating me in Math because she was so smart that she would wait until right before class started to do her homework while I struggled the night before and she ALWAYS got straight A's and I didn't!

I remember Tammie Disney locking me in a jail cell and couldn't get it open right away. I started to panic and then she got it open. It was probably only for a minute but I knew I never wanted to be in one ever again!

I remember Curt Small chasing me around the yard with a cattle prod (thank you Curt)!

I remember playing in Inavale with Eva and spying on the old guy who ran the lumber yard. We thought we were so sneaky!

I remember the year we all turned 12 and had birthday dances. Scott and Geoff had one at Scott's house, Jeff had one in his basement, Jill had one in her garage, and I had one on our back patio.

I remember someone getting sick at my birthday dance from chewing tobacco. Who was that?

I remember my first sleepover at Steph Gestring's house. I ended up getting homesick and my dad had to come get me. Then Steph came to my house for a sleepover and she got sick and had to go home.

I remember delivering newspapers on the back of Kim Goebel's horse. That was just about the coolest thing ever!

I remember liking to go home with the country kids (Steph and Sarah) so I could ride the bus.

I remember in grade school riding the bus over to the high school for lunch.

I remember the class riding on top of the fire truck in grade school!

I remember drinking real cow's milk at Jeff Yost's house and eating it on our breakfast food, as Jeff called it.

I remember Greg Arneson showing me how he could whistle through his teeth at Ding Dong Preschool.

I remember being in the front row of every performance. My daughter is always in the back row and I've told her more than once how lucky she is!

I remember sliding down the stairs with Traci Beitler at her Grandma's house. There was something special about those stairs because mine weren't as much fun.

I remember Mike Speegle passing out in Mr. Nannen's Social Studies class and Mr. Nannen thought he was joking at first.

I remember my first official boyfriend was Tim Eiseman in the 6th grade. We got rings for each other at Brenda's Shoppe.

I always thought Jill Elliott was really funny and had perfect teeth.

I thought Dean Pegg looked like Billy Idol. Did anyone else?

I remember climbing up and sliding down the fire escape at the old grade school during non-school hours and I couldn't wait to be on the top floor of the school (3rd and 4th grade) so we could slide down the fire escape during a fire drill. The good old days!

I remember someone throwing up in Mrs. Stokes' 2nd grade class. Who was that? I think Marcia Garwood was the one who alerted Mrs. Stokes.

I remember a kid named David peeing his pants in Mrs. Thompsons' 1st grade class. I think he was too scared of her to ask if he could go to the bathroom.

I remember Julie Francis' red nails too and her talking about 'walking beans' and I couldn't figure out how you walked a bean?!

I remember Dennis Terry being the first person I knew with two first names.

I remember Jim Mattison always getting in trouble in Mr. Price's 6th grade class and getting spanked with a ruler/yardstick til one day he folded up a weekly reader and put it in the back of his pants. He was prepared but I think Mr. Price found it and took it out and hit him some more. Can you imagine a teacher doing that these days?

Did Jim and Scott both get perms in 6th grade?

I remember Michelle Lewis was really funny and said 'lovely' a lot.

Geoff Meyer was great at all sports, especially basketball and also had perfect teeth and hair.

I still wonder how Mr. McNeil was always the first to know everything.

I remember music class meant listening to records.

I remember parties in the country and getting stuck on country roads.

I remember "Ghostbusting".

I still remember how Mrs. Mercer's perfume smelled.

Favorite Memories of Living in Red Cloud

I think its funny that they called our preschool Ding Dong Preschool. Does anybody else see anything wrong with that? And I graduate twice! Do you know how wrong that sounds?

I remember playing outside in the summer from sun up to sun down and having the freedom to go anywhere in town.

I remember Mom driving the 4 blocks downtown to run errands and thinking it was weird that people would walk or ride their bike to go downtown.

I remember running home from basketball practice to see the Mtv World Premier Video of Michael Jackson's Thriller video.

I remember roller skating every Wednesday night in Inavale.

I loved the 4th of July and shooting firecrackers, not very safely I might add, holding them until the last second and then throwing them, blowing up pop cans and anything else we could find. I cringe to think if my kids did that!

I loved the Lion's Club beef and noodle supper in Riverton. I don't know why I remember that, it must have been really good!

I remember the Methodist Bazaar every Fall and the Methodist Youth Group doing a haunted house by the cemetary.

I remember playing hide and seek in a marijuana field north of the Swanson's, where Michell Lewis Mans lives now. We didn't know what it was but it sure smelled funny.

I loved trick or treating. I remember the year my dad sat out on our front porch swing with a mask and coveralls and scared all the kids.
