Brian H. - sounds as though we need to keep our fingers crossed for you, too - after all that looking and waiting and then finally accepting that promotion, now this! Well, I'll keep you and yours in my thoughts as well.

Tani - Thanks so much again for a great time at the lake, and for stopping by to drop off my wallet. I'll make sure to take extra ginkgo biloba the next time so my forgetful noggin *won't*. (groan)

I have a request of my own at this time - my cousin, who was paralyzed in a car accident while we were still classmates at Kish, was in another one last Monday. He has a bruised heart and lung, a broken pelvis (on both sides) and a shattered knee for which he is having surgery today for a replacement. Please keep him in your thoughts during this very difficult time for him and his family. Thanks.

Take care everyone,
Henry

I'm asking for your prayers and thoughts for one of my co-workers and friend, Cathy, at the hospital. She found out on Monday night her nearly 22-year old son is missing in New York City, and before he went missing, he made some grandiose statements about being able to skate board off a building without dying (along with some other bizarre statements). Her son hadn't slept in 5 days and there were concerns he may be suicidal, but they are holding out hope he is alive and somewhere safe. He has a history of staying up for days and not being in contact with his family for weeks at a time. He is a professional skate boarder, so they are hoping someone will recognize him and help him get the help he needs.

Hi! Checking back in..fun to see lots of updated pics!!
Praying that employment statuses are going well for those with questionable lay-offs. Brian--saw your prayer request...and saw your vacation post on Assateague!ooh the memories! When Sam and Anthony were little, we'd cut over through Assateague/ Chincoteague and headed down to VA Beach across the Bay Bridge Tunnel, Cape Henry, Ft. Story, Va Beach. --Always loved that route. We had gone over pony penning time and I recall renting bikes there too doing a bunch of bike riding. Fun fun! I imagine it is cooling off up north. Autumn stinks down here when you have mostly pine trees around you, but at least I don't have to freeze as much at football games here. Still, I loved Autumn weather in Big Valley with the cool brisk air, all the leaves changing in the valley, and the smell of leaf-piles burning as I had chugged around on the awesomeness of my bicycle. How many years ago was that? Seems like a few days before yesterday!

Just a quick update--my friend Cathy's son was found safe in Harlem this morning and she and her husband are on their way to see him.

I have definitely got to check the message forum more often...Brian H., I'm glad to hear that your friend's son was found...also, how goes the new position?

I have some sad news. My cousin, Joe Damicantonio- AKA Joey D., was killed in an auto accident last Sunday. My family and I are devistated. Joe was a musical prodigy, an extreamely talented artist, and incredibly intelligent. He was the only child of my Uncle Dave (Milroy) & Vonnie Damicantonio (Belleville). Please send prayers and loving thoughts our way. I don't know how many of you knew Joe, him being the strong-silent type, but I'm sure that those of you who did know him knew, without a doubt, knew that he was one of the most gifted and crazy-cool guys ever. My heart ir breaking!- Kristy D

Kristy--sorry to hear about your loss. I will definitely keep you and your family in my prayers.

Henry--based on Kristy's post and my friend Cathy's trials last week, my problems seem inconsequential at this time. My promotion has been put on hold indefinitely until the Budget is passed (will be approximatley 6 weeks after until I will start). I guess I should look at it from the prospective I still have a job at this time as my company thought the would have to shut down this month. I am still planning to go back to school in the Spring (if everything falls into place with financial aid) and am in the process of looking for other employment (partially because I thinks it's time for a change as well as being proactive in case my company shuts down).

Hi again, I just wanted to thank everybody who kept my cousin Wilmer in their thoughts and prayers - he was released from the hospital and although he has a lot of physical therapy down the road, it looks as though he's going to be okay. However, now his brother Melvin, who was also in a bad accident when we were at Kish (not at the same time, but his was pretty bad too, as he developed staph infection and was sick for a long time after he fell asleep at the wheel), is having heart trouble, which looks as though it might be related to what happened back then. Any well-wishing on his behalf would be greatly appreciated.

That said, I am definitely thinking of you, Kristy - I only wish that fate would have seen fit to keep Joe around as well. If there's anything you need, you know how to get hold of me.

Brian H. - I am sorry to hear that they put your new position on hold, but the budget will eventually get passed (hopefully soon), and when it does, your wait will finally be over. In any event, I hope everything does fall into place when it comes to getting the student aid you need to go back to school in the spring and wish you the best of luck in your job search in the meantime.

Finally, I ran into Angi Wagner in Belleville earlier this evening - it was good to see you again, Angi. Sorry you had to make an early exit when Donnie came in though!

Well, I'm going to get going - I need to get the rest of my stuff out of the "old" place and rearrange it all once it's here.

Take care,
Henry

Thanx to everyone who sent their sympathies about Joe my way. He was sent from this world to the next with so many loving thoughts, kind words, and prayers that it really does make me feel better to know he was loved and will be missed by so many. Also, a big thanx to those of you who came to the viewing and funeral; it was nice to talk about how great a guy Joe was to people who knew him so well and will also miss him.- Kristy D

Hey Everyone!
Let's plan a get together soon! I've been neglecting this site with everything else I have on my plate and I miss everyone. If you have any suggestions about what we can do or what I can do to get everyone back on the site, let me know!
Thanks!

I was thinking about a get together as well, but couldn't narrow down anything. I wouldn't mind an evening at JP's. I also think it would be nice if we could do a picnic / bonfire type get together if anyone has the space (I would volunteer, but my house isn't big enough to have many people over). Keep me posted as things move forward (hopefully) and I will try to be there if my schedule suits.
I also wanted to update everyone that my promotion is still on hold and won't go through until 6 weeks after the State budget is passed (and based on what I just saw on the Internet, they aren't any closer to passing one). As it stands now, I have been telling the individuals I work with it looks like I'll be with them through the holidays now.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I know with our fast paced world we neglect writing or keeping up with friends and classmates. I have said I would keep in touch more often but either I forget or just avoid it all together. I will try real hard to keep you updated on what is happening in Louisiana.

I am planning to be in Pennsylvania over the Christmas holiday so if anyone whats to get together then. I would be thrilled to see some of you then. My plans are to be in Pennsylvania from Dec. 23rd till Dec 30th. I will know the official dates next week when I purchase my airline ticket, so I will let you all know the exact dates next week. I will be praying for all of you. Will talk to you all real soon.

Brian--I would like to try to get together while you're "home." It's been a few years since we've touched base and I would like to catch up.

Hey Brian - I agree with Herbie on getting together, it would be great to see you again. I had even mentioned to Tani that maybe we could wait until the holidays to do the get-together as more people would possibly be in the area. I'm sure it's going to be busy for everybody at that time but I'm equally sure that the people that really want to get together will find the time to do it.

That said, I'm going to bed - 4:30am is just around the corner for work and I gotta get some zzz's!

Take care!
Henry

Anyone else going to be home for the holidays? Christmas time?

I don't think we will this year...never know though... we're getting ready to move (updated my profile to delete my address)and expect Dec. to get a little full with the move and getting E ready to switch into a new school and such....never know though. I'll let Ang know if we plan any last minute trip up.

Just to update everyone on my trip to PA. I purchased my airline ticket and will be in PA from Dec. 22nd till Dec 31st. Hope see some of you in a couple months. It is just around the corner.

Brian R. - Awesome. I hope you'll have enough time while you're up to get together - it's hard to believe it's already been ten months since I saw everyone down south.

Lynnette - Same goes, if you do happen to make it up. Also, I'm guessing you already have your new place lined up? I am sure it's going to be as nice as your home in Lexington, and hopefully the transition for Emmitt to his new school will go well. He's a good kid - I doubt he'll have any problem at all.

Tani - Thanks so much again for a nice, relaxing visit. It was much-needed. Thank Rick for me again for the pizza, too!

Well, I'd better get going - much to do before two very busy days off. Hope everyone has a good rest of the week and a great weekend!

Take care,
Henry

Here we go again. I found out yesterday the individual who was supposed to take my position when I'm promoted was offered another position in our office and she has accepted. I have a meeting with 2 of our directors and our HR person tomorrow and I have the strangest feeling they are going to say they're going to postpone my promotion again. There have been no postings within the company for my position, we have one girl who will be going on maternity leave within the month and several other girls going out within the next 2-3 months, so it doesn't look very promising. I know I'm supposed to be optimistic, but given my track record over the past several months, it's really hard. I'll keep you posted after my meeting.

I met with our Regional Director and HR person on Friday and they have given me 4 options. I can continue doing what I'm doing now and either wait for the money to come through for Supervisory position to open or wait until they get 9 case managers, at which point they would need to have someone in place (#1 & 2). I could move over to the Mental Health Case Management team and learn the in's and out's of the program at that level then be prepared for when the position is available (# 3). Or they are talking about making a position that would be a dual diagnosis, high-risk liaison (# 4) which would be a management-level position that would basically be a "back-up" supervisor for MR.
With all that said, I'm no closer to moving to a different position than I was 2 1/2 months ago. I'm leaning toward the 4th option, but it hasn't been completely developed yet. It sounds like it would be a Monday through Friday job where I would attend meetings and meet with the psychologist on a regular basis.

Ok, hopefully this will be the last time I will have to update on my work status (starting to feel like a liar and a little embarrassed). I misunderstood my supervisors and the position I had mentioned earlier wasn't a supervisory position (at least not at this time) and will be a dual-diagnosed high risk case management position starting February 1st. It will hopefully lead to a supervisory position in the future, but it's what I really want to do at this time (and I found out the unit I could have supervised on the mental health side is struggling and they couldn't give me a start time).

Hey, Everyone! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I've been a bum and not sent out any pics or cards, but that doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about y'all!

Have fun at PJ's...sort of wish we had made the drive home this Christmas, but then again it's nice not to go anywhere at all. Maybe next year!
