Alice, John has been at a couple of our reunions. I've followed his career on the internet, also. What a character!! We got a picture of all the Kennydale kids at one. It was fun.

Fun fact - at one time John's Wikipedia article stated:

John Swartzwelder is pseudonym used by writers of the animated television series The Simpsons. Other writers of the show have created a "John Swartzwelder" character, a long-haired, potbellied chap with a moustache, which has been seen in a few episodes of the show.

You can see that on the talk page of the article along with a discussion of whether he was a real person or not.

With the 50 year reunion looming ahead, this is a MUST read  :-)       http://www.lindahughes.com/5-reasons-you-should-attend-your-50th-high-school-reunion/

Love all the chatter above about John, I watched John, Ken Grant and a few other old and I mean old Kennydale Elementary guys play baseball well sort-of. Never being the athlete I watched as usual.

I've missed more reunions than I've attended, but I am looking forward to No. 50 - if you all need a little help ith the plans - hit me up. But, please know that I'm still a workin' stiff and don't have tons of time...still wouldn't mind helping if I can.

Also, I know how to reach Arlene Hales (Clayton) hmmm, yes there was a connection.

Cheers!

Rich

I have an off the wall question of the class of 67. I love most genres of music:  classical, jazz, rock, pop, country..  But in the rock category, my favorite is progressive in the vain of groups like Yes, the Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, but also some more recent bands and arrtists like Porcupine Tree (Steven Wilson) and Riverside Lunatic Soul (Maruicz Duda).  I have not found anyone in my relationship of friends that actually have that kind of appreciation.  Just for my own inquisitiveness, does anyone out there have the same musical taste?

Sorry Darrel,
I would not have a clue.
I am stuck in the 60s and early 70s.

Unless these groups tutored under the Beatles, Stones or the Temptations...I have never heard of them!

Hi Darrel - I think you have found a kindred spirit.  Progressive rock was ALL that i listened to in the '70s.  it wasn't until a decade later, when i was preparing to do some mobile disc jockey work, that I researched what was going on in the pop world of the '70s.  Moody Blues, Pink Floyd and Yes were among my favorites as well.  Did you listen to Emerson, Lake & Palmer; Renaissance; Rush; Al Stewart; Supertramp; Traffic?  There were also some artists that I liked for one particular song, i.e. 10cc (I'm Not In Love), Blue Oyster Cult (Don't Fear the Reaper), Manfred Mann's Earth Band (Blinded By the Light), Procol Harum (A Whiter Shade of Pale) or Alan Parson Project (I Wouldn.t Want to Be Like You).  If you check out the Wikipedia article that lists progressive rock artists, you will see many names that became more famous for their progressive pop, harder rock and/or arena rock; groups such as Boston, Dire Straits, Heart, Kansas, and Led Zeppelin.  I will have to check out the more recent bands you mentioned.  Rock on ... progressively, of course!

Hi Classmates,

Gene Sutin passed away in June. His memorial service will be will be held on October 19th at 11:00 AM at Churchome Kirkland located at 9051 132nd Ave NE Kirkland, WA 98033. His daughter, Krystle, asked me to pass that along to you. She will be arranging for his obituary to appear in the Seattle Times this coming week.

I saw Gene in January. Physically everthing was precarious, but with the support of his wonderful wife, Connie, he was emotionally and spiritually absolutely fine. The after effects of the chemo finally got him, but he lived a happy and meaningful life until the end.

Take care, and see you at the next big reunion,
Walter Gruhn

Thanks Walter. I was just thinking about Gene last week. We were buds in band. What a nice guy and what a loss.

It is sad to hear of Gene's passing. He lived down the street from us and we had fun together on various occasions. I knew many in band although I was in the orchestra. His passing reminds me that perhaps we are getting old. I should make a better attempt to travel for a future reumion before we get too old...

Happy birthday, Ron Lee.  Hope you had a terrific day.  Are you back in the Seattle area now?  I am living in Arizona and glad to be out of the wet and cold weather.  However, we had had record rain down here and everything is green.

I have updated my profile with new pics but more importantly a few recently discovered Kennydale Elementary class photos and a Kennydale Cub Scout photo.

I would very much like to share these with anyone interested in our Kennydale Elementary years. I am hoping that I can get some help identifiying these kids as my parents weren't very good about it and my memory is really fading when it comes to those early school days.

Please feel free to contact me at bsg.rclayton@gmail.com

Cheers!

Thx to everyone for all the hard work for the 55th. It was great. If I missed talking to anyone I apologize. Believe me I tried. Couldn't ask for a better time. Can't wait for the 60th.

Thank you to all those involved in putting the 55 reunion together.  It was so nice seeing everyone.  I would like these to happen evey year now.

I just wanted to say what an absolute blast I had at our 55th. I was lucky enough to play in a great foursome with Lynne Peterson, Ron Lee and Mike Willis. Everyone contributed one way or another. The reunion was extra special, as I was able to see old friends and classmates again. However, spending some time with my childhood friend Jim Petersen and his sister Cathy Jex, was the icing on the cake. I enjoyed every minute that I got to spend time with all of you.    Larry 'Super Chicken' Samples

A big Thank You to the planners of our 55 reunion! It was a fun evening for all! I got to chat with many, but missed talking to a few, and met some new classmates! See you at the 60th!

A huge THANK YOU to all of you who planned and worked on our RHS 55th Reunion! Your time and efforts on another successful event--Michelle, Kris, Claudia, Mike, Gaye, Scott, Margaret, and anyone who I missed--is so appreciated.  Maybe we could have another one before the 60th?

Another great job by the all of the planners for the Reunion!!!  I was a wonderful time. I really enjoyed visiting with everyone, seeing old friends and making new ones.  Five years sounds like a long ways away, even though time seems to be going faster and faster.  I don't want to think about who may not be here in five years, so how does everyone feel about doing it more often.  Please let me know if I can be of any help.  Thanks again for all of the hard work.

Thanks to those involved planning snd executing the reunion. I was so disappointed I had to leave early to get to my college reunion. There were people I didn't get to talk to but hopefully I'll see you all in five years, if not before.
my best to all, Tanya

I have some sad news to report - I just found out today Steve Moenning has passed away.  I don't have any further info, just that the sheriff went to his house for a welfare check and found him deceased.

Barbara, Mike and fellow classmates, so terribly sorry to hear about Rich Holmes passing. He was such a dear friend in high school (Jon and I doubled with Rich and Debbie Wilson to Senior Prom). We worked together at Sears for a few years and continued our friendship through the years.   Barbara, cherish the memories, I know Rich truly  loved you and the life he shared with you. What a tough year you both have had, thoughts and prayers to you.    RIP dear Rich   RHS '67       With sorrow, Suzy Chissus Lissman

Good Morning all, Mike and Al,

Do you have a link for donating to the Renton Food Bank? We are in Mississippi and can send a check or if you have a link that would be great!  Could you please add to your recent post?

Wish we could attend some of your events, but we are pretty busy still building our company and taking care of our huge family, grandchildren and greats!

Sending best to you all,

Susan Heisey (Burtch)
