Where did you find your Happiness?

I recently received a message acknowledging me for living a life of peace and happiness based upon my profile information.

Now that we're all "old and wise", would anyone else care to share their winning formula for having created a life they love....if I only knew then what I know now...

Wes poses a very interesting question.  The winning formula is partly in Wes' question when he states that we are now, "older and wiser."  With wisdom, we realize that happiness visited us many times throughout our lives and though we may not have seen it then, those moments bring us as much, if not more happiness and positive feelings now than they did then.

I was excited when Renton High took the State Championship in basketball in 66 and 67.  It makes me happy now.

I was happy when I married my best friend, Joan in 1980.  She died in 2002 after 22 years of marriage.  The memory of that marriage continues to bring me much happiness.

Right out of high school I volunteered for the draft to get it over with.  Not a happy moment to be sure but after getting to serve two years in the beautiful Black Forest in Bavaria, Germany rather than Vietnam, I was extremely happy [and blessed] and look back on those two years with many happy memories.

My winning formula for happiness is to have a positive perspective as life is happening now and then invoking that wisdom that comes with old age and holding on mainly to the fondest memories of your life.  Have no regrets!!  Regrets are movies that play continually in your head and bring only unhappiness.  Give all the mistakes and tragedies to God.  Losing my wife to cancer was a tragedy.  The happy experience of that marriage is all that I am holding in memory.  The rest has no power in my perspective.
