How's this for a "blast from the past?" Do you guys remember me? I remember most of you very well. After Sequoia Jr. High, I didn't enroll at Reseda High, although I wanted to. My parents forced me to enroll at Notre Dame High School. I didn't like this, because I lost contact with nearly all of my friends, including my best friends and those I grew up with. My parents worried that I was getting a little too "off track" at Sequoia, and shipped me off to an all-boys Catholic school across town.

Because Notre Dame was an all-boys school, there was nothing else to do but study. To my surprise, Juanita Boulgardes was at my graduation, because her cousin also went to ND. I then went to UCLA, and ran into Ben Lish. Ben and I took a few of the pre-med classes together. I didn't do very well in those classes. I hated doing the pre-med major. I changed majors and schools, and enrolled at Cal State Northridge and got a BS and MBA.

I moved to Texas, created a company that eventually grew to about 40 employees. After ten years there, I moved back to California to become president of E-Loan's national closing company.

At age 41, I got tired of working in real estate, so I enrolled at Georgetown Law School, and became an attorney in Orange County.

Because I grew up with so many of you, it's fair to say that I've wondered how all of you are doing. I hope you don't mind that I am attending. It's probably the last time I will see you guys.

Now that 30+ years have passed, here's some trips down memory lane.

My two childhood (and best) friends were Noel Leonard and Don Bueche. Don lived down the street from me and Noel around the corner. So did John Van Unen, Brian Dunn, Chris Rhemy and others.

Going to Sequoia was great. There were a lot of things to do, and there were a lot of very pretty girls too. I hated that I had to cut off contact with everyone like that.

Do you guys remember the "orange juice riot" that occurred in 8th grade? That's when the whole school began throwing orange juice (and milk) cartons at everyone, including the teachers? Well, I can admit it now. I started it. I collected about 50 orange juices, and put them together in a box. When the signal was given, I threw the first one, and hit Kelly Moss (Teri Moss's brother) right in the back. It exploded over a bunch of students, and then my friends starting hitting everyone else. We made sure to nail a few teachers too. I can't believe I never got busted for that.

Mr. Winter gave Mike Wolfe the 9th grade musicianship award in front of the whole school. I thought I won it, quite frankly. No offense Mike, but I was a better musician :) When Mr. Winter described the winner as "a pain in the neck" Ben Lish's brother, who sat behind me, said, "Pat, you won!" LMFAO. Lisa Pfister said the same thing to me. I started to stand up when Winter announced Mike Wolfe's name.

Some of you may know Bill Nash. He was 1 year ahead of us. His brother, Ted Nash, also attended Reseda, and is the world's best sax player. Mr. Galiardi actually began teaching me how to play clarinet in 2nd grade, and kept a close eye on me with Ted as my tutor.

To this day, I feel like I betrayed Mr. G. He spent a lot of years training me to be a musician. He was stunned to find that I went to NDHS. I never called him, and we never spoke after that. Mr. G. did call my music teacher to see how I was doing. All that teaching did pay off: I was elected to the "Who's Who In Music" for 1979 and 1980, won several national awards, and did a lot of traveling with ND's band. But it would have been a lot funner had I done this at Reseda with Leah, Mary Ellen Service, Ben Lish, Debbie Crocker, Colleen Ryan, etc. etc.

Drop me a line. I'd be great to see you guys again. Where does the time go, anyway?

School Story:

Here's a recent picture of me. Back then, my hair was to my shoulders. That won't work today.
