I was hoping to see her to tell her that she was aways so gentle and sweet when we rode the bus together. I always liked to sit by her even though she was quiet. Her hair was almost black and her eyes so blue. I named one of my daughters after her. I had never heard any one with that name. I named my daughter Heather Colleen. And she is also gentle and has 8 kids. Four are adopted. All these years I've told people about her. I am so very sad not be able to see her and let her know the impression she made on me with her gentle spirit. God bless her husband. Sorry for his tragic loss.
When Melia first posted her information about Heather I was so sad. I knew that Heather had died young but I never knew the circumstances. I texted Melia and thanked her for remembering Heather. I was in classes with Heather from the 5th grade through Eisenhower. When the reunion party was being planned I pulled out my old yearbooks and one of the very first names I saw on the inside cover was Heather Ferrell. She was indeed a sweet and gentle person who is missed. Bill Dobberpuhl

Cause: a terrible car accident during return to Irvine from a camping trip to Mammoth Lake area.
Her husband survived...it was doubly tragic because they were expecting their child in a few more months.
I had just visited them at their home in June '71 -- they were very happy together. They'd been on a trip to Europe previously and loved it.
