"Stunned" by the news of Steve's passing. Spent time this past twenty-four processing fond memories of a friendship that started in the 7th grade at RJH. Steve was such a powerful, positive, force for those of us who had the privilege of knowing him in those early years. Rest assured Patty, all the positive memories shared by so many will never be forgotten.

Steve and Patty visited me only a year ago in Santa Monica, Calif.  and we got to reflect back on our good times together during our high school days  and afterwards.   We remember playing football together for the Eisenhower Eagles like it was yesterday.   We have stayed in close  contact since our 50th reunion and Steve always wanted to make sure we made an attempt to get together and stay in touch as life seems to pass us all by so fast these days.   Carl Allen and I will be traveling together as we both will be attending the "Celebration of Life" event for Steve on March 17th in Chandler, Arizona.

We will give dear Patty all the support she certainly deserves.

Sincerely,

Mike Leeny

When I think of Steve I always think of "strength".  He was a rock of a man on the offensive line at EHS.  But he also had strength of character, a strong work ethic, a strong faith; he was a strong patriot.  Yet he was also himble and kind.  Steve exemplified the good men of our generation.  He was right that we should be getting together more often.  Life is short and we never know when God will be calling us home.  Sadly, i am committed to speak in Steamboat, CO on Saturday the 17th.  Chris and I will be there in spirit.  Our prayers will be with Patty and their family.  May Steve rest in peace.

My early memories of Steve have to do with football.  It seems I can remember those days more easily than events from more recent times.  Fortunately, the reunion brought Steve, Mike Leeny, Dave Mehl and John Blair back into my life and I realized how much they all meant and mean to me.  We vowed to get together more often, but life always steps in.  Steve, Mike and I were able to get together a bunch of times for dinner with our wives and to talk about how "great" our football team was.  When Steve and Patty visited Jo Ann and I at our home we pulled out the scrapbooks of Eisenhower and had a great time reflecting back on the good ol' days.  My best memory is more recent, visiting Steve and Patty at their beautiful home in Arizona and sitting outside on their patio until the late hours, again reflecting back.  Steve shared his beautiful wood carvings and all of the items he would make to share with community kids and especially his special grandkids.  I will miss Steve deeply and will definitely be there for his memorial and to support Patty.

Such a loss for Patty and her family.   Steve will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  I am so greatful that Charlie and I were able to spend a little time with Steve and Patty in early January.  We had such a great time together and when I hugged him goodbye I had no idea it would be for the last time.  Patty is a strong gal, but I know this is so hard for her to lose the love of her life.  My prayers and love go out to our sweet Patty and her family.
