Gary Frank Foster, age 70, of Riceville, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa.

Gary was born on February 19, 1945 at Riceville to Loyd and Geraldine (House) Foster. He attended Riceville Community School and graduated in 1963. In November of that year, Gary and Barbara Lubbert

married - their five children are: Deb, Keith, Joel, Brian, and Craig. After Gary and Barb divorced, he married Janice Goodale of Little Cedar. Their only child, Sheena, is still living at home.

Gary was a self-employed semi-truck driver for many years, driving for local grain elevators. Health issues required him to retire from a business he enjoyed.

Gary was an avid sports fan watching the NFL games, major league baseball and college football games on television. He enjoyed music, especially the “oldies”. Gary read many magazines, newspapers and books about a variety of subjects. He loved the outdoors-camping, hunting, fishing, boating and spending time with his family.

Gary is survived by his wife, Janice, and daughter, Sheena. Also surviving Gary are his five adult children and twenty six grandchildren: Deb Blankenship and her husband Bill, their children Elizabeth Berneman, Jarrod Blankenship, Stephenie Blankenship, Brittany Blankenship, and Connor Blankenship. Keith Foster and his wife Tammi, and their children Scott Pauley, Matthew Foster, Courtney Wagens, and Kelsey Foster. Joel Foster and his wife Melissa, with their children Alex Foster, Michaela Foster, Colton Foster, Caleb Foster, Peyton Foster, Liam Foster, and Kieran Foster. Brian Foster and his wife Sue, with their children Ryan Rinnels, Brittany (Foster) Lewis, Zach Miller, Chase Foster, Anna Miller, Dana Miller, Hunter Foster, and Logan Foster. Craig Foster and his wife Theresa and Sheena Foster. Additional surviving relatives are his great-grandchildren Kayley, Michael, Emma, Landon, Cayden, Ricky, Anna Rose, Abram, Kailee, Aria, and Scarlett Rose.

Surviving Gary are his three brothers and their families: Lee and Jean Foster with their children Bob Foster and Lisa Pool, Dean Foster and his children Chad Foster, Stephanie Scholbrock, Todd Foster, and Stacey Losee, Don Foster and his wife Deb, with their children Dawn Lindloff, Erin Hamel, and Abby Brekke. He also is survived by many cousins, great nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Jerry (House) Foster, grandparents Jay and Myrna Foster, Frank and Anna Reckner, a nephew Wade Foster, and sisters-in-law Kay (Fox) Foster and Norma (Ruroden) Foster.

Funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville on October 2, 2015 at 11 AM. with the Rev. Chris Gorshe officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.

Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Thursday during the hours of 4-7PM and one hour before services at the church on Friday.
