
Kenneth Zubrod dies in wreck Sunday a.m.
Alta Vista youth was graduate of RCS Class of 1963
Kenneth Zubrod, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Zubrod of rural Alta Vista, was killed early Sunday morning, October 13 when the car in which he and his brother, Larry 15, was riding in careened off a county road five miles west of Elma and hit a farm driveway embankment. Larry was seriously injured and was taken to a New Hampton hospital. Howard County Sheriff Percy Haven said Kenneth was thrown out of the car and suffered a fatal skull fracture. Larry's condition has since been listed as fair. Haven said it appeared that Kenneth, who was driving the automobile, may have gone to sleep while at the wheel.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Methodist Church in Elma. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. The Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Zubrod, two brothers, Larry and David; two sisters, Sharon ands Carol Ann, all at home; his mater grandmother, Mrs. Henry Johnson, Elma; paternal grandparents, William Zubrod, California and Mrs. William Zubrod, Elma. Kenneth was a 1963 graduate of Riceville Community High School.
