Jack Bumpas

Jack Bumpas

Jack received a BS degree in industrial engineering from Texas Tech in 1967.  He and his wife, Deborah, had one daughter and three sons.  He worked for LTV, IBM, Bell Telephone and was working for Fidelity Investments at the time of his death.  He collapsed while attending a business breakfast on Aug. 11, 1994 and passed away.  He had complained of chest pains earlier on Aug. 5th, but an examination did not indicate heart trouble.

Jack was a wonderful friend and I am so sad to learn of his death!  Does anyone know about his wife Dora?  I introduced them when Dora and I went to North Texas.  This leaves a big hole in my dreams for the reunion.

Dora and Jack divorced, she remarried to Charles Tweed.  I don't know if this is current.

Jack and I were neighbors and friends in high school, living in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas and "commuting" to high school in Richardson via bus and later by car. We were both in marching band. First time I'd ever heard of a marching bassoon! Of course, Jack played trumpet...a great marching band instrument.

When Jack and I learned we were both going to Texas Tech, we signed up as roommates. I can't believe it but I remember we were in room 247 of Wells Hall.

I married in May of 1965 and didn't graduate until January of 1967. I remember meeting Dora. Jack was a good friend and I remember how unfair I thought it was that he passed at such a young age.

Jack was my first boyfriend way back in first and second grade in Paris, Texas. Our parents were good friends. We went to church,  school, and social activities together until his family moved to Richardson. We never dreamed we'd graduate from RHS together.  I'm bringing some pictures of Jack and me,  in 1952,  that I found at Mother's house when she died in 2007. Does anyone know anything about Jack's mom and dad, Ruby and Jack Bumpas?

I am so sad to hear of his passing at such a young age.
