
Thanks to the research by our fellow classmate, Ralph Norman, we have the following information on Neal's death:
The following obituary appeared in the Garland News, on Friday, January 2nd, 1981.
Services for Neal Arnold Rhodes (May 21,1944-December 30,1980), 36, of 330 Nettle in Garland, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Rodgers Baptist Church, the Rev. Charles Thomas officiating: burial will be at Restland Memorial Park.
He is survived by wife, Elain; son, Jonathan A.; daughter, Brandi; sister, Carol Speed of Garland; step-sister Karen Tarver of Balch Springs; mother, Wanda Rhodes; and, father and step-mother William and Jean Rhodes of Woodville, TX.
An accompanying article stated that Neal and his brother-in-law, Donney Speed, died instantly of electrocution on a hunting trip to Brady, TX when the antenna of the CB which they were using came in contact with a transformer.
In addition, following graduation from Richardson High School, Neal attended Arllington State College and then served in the Air Force. At the time of his death, he was a district engineer for the Harris Corporation.
