Sandra Lillard (Rippy)

Sandra married RHS alum, Robert Rippy (Class of 1961) and died of a chemical imbalance in the brain in 1984.  Here is her obituary notice as printed in the Garland Daily News provided by our faithful class "reporter," Ralph Norman:

Services for Sandra Kay Rippy, 40, of Garland were 4 p.m. today at Restland's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Brooks officiating. Burial was to be in Restland Memorial Park.

Mrs. Rippy died Friday, February 17th in Garland. She was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Missouri and was a housewife. (John's note:  I never have liked the term, "housewife."  She wasn't married to her house.  She was married to Robert!  I much prefer the term, "homemaker" because that is one the great things a wife does.  She turns a house into a home.)

Survivors include her husband, Robert Rippy; son, Robert W. Rippy, Jr.; daughters, Kristi and Tammy Rippy; parents, Harvey and Vivian Lillard; sister, Pamela Lillard; brothers, Ron and Gene Lillard; and, two grandchildren.

Sandra's husband, Robert, adds these personal comments:

Sandra had two brothers and a sister that also went to Richardson ( Gene, Ronnie, and Pam ).  Sandra and Robert were married when Sandra was a junior at R.H.S. We have three children Robert Jr., Kristi, and Tammy. We have 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Robert and Sandra had 24 wonderful and blessed yrs.of marriage before she passed away in Feb. 1984.  Sandra stayed at home raising our children and loving her grandchildren only working for approximately a year at Texas Instruments.  Sandra was active in our church, was on several bowling teams, played tennis and enjoyed traveling.  She loved our trips to Hawaii, Rio in Brazil, Acapulco, the Bahamas, Bermuda, but her favorite place was going to Las Vagus to see Elvis which we did several times . She was a strikingly beautiful woman both inside and out. She was very warm, kind and loving. She was loved by everyone who knew her.
