Some GL Stuff

Geez, I don't remember exactly how to do this, so I hope this turns out.

Anyway, a new high school opened in September of 2007, just around the corner from our old high school.  Our high school became the new middle school, and as of this fall, will house 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  3rd and 4th graders attend the Thomas Ryan Intermediate School (which opened about 1994).  There are just two elementaries now, Richland and Kellogg.  Remember when we didn't meet the kids from "the other side of the district" until we were in 7th grade?  (That building burned down several years ago and is now the site of a Hardings store).

The school on 40th street, where the class of 1975 attended 8th grade, has been remodeled (much of it torn down to get it back to it's original size) and now houses community education and preschool classes.  The basement where we had such a lovely lunchroom is now gone.  They did keep the old bus garage, where we had shop and art classes.  As I recall, those were pretty fun with the young hippie teachers, Mr. Drenth and Miss Leigh.

I hope you'll have a chance to drive around and see these building if you come back for the reunion - also take a look at the football field and new concession stand, along with the "Pathway of Pride", which is the new walkway to the football field.  It sure beats the mud that used to be there.  I plan to have information at the reunion on how you can purchase a brick or pillar block to add your name (or someone elses) to the walkway.

Thanks Stacey!  It came through just fine, although it took me a minute (or two) to figure out how to respond.  Very nice information about the school buildings. See you soon!!  Julie

Thanks for the update Stacey.  Now my sister Mary is going to have to take me on a tour of this whole area.
