STRABLEY, Gayla Renee, September 9, 1954 to April 14, 2023
Gayla Renee Strabley left the physical world to be with the Lord on April 14, 2023. Gayla was a dynamic business owner, a passionate seamstress and a magnanimous spirit who wove her way into the lives of so many people. After taking over her parents' business in 1998, she spent 25 years establishing All Brands Sewing Center into the hearts of everyone who walked through the doors. Over the years, she has been responsible for thousands of people learning how to sew in Richmond and beyond. However, the role that she was most proud of was being a mother and grandmother, a friend and teacher.
Gayla will be best remembered for her contagious smile and loud laughter, her charismatic storytelling, her pure heart. Gayla was happiest when traveling, sipping wine in the Outer Banks and visiting N.Y.C. with her "bestie" Rosie. While her story here ends as she passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm, the relentless joy that she shared with the world will live on as one of her organs was donated, the night of her passing, to a patient whose family was prior left without hope.
Gayla was preceded in passing by her son, Cory Shepardson; and her sister, Kathy Strabley. She is survived by her mother, Dorothea "Dottie"; and father, Charles "Chuck" Strabley; son, Ramsey Sheperdson; her grandson, Gunner Shepardson; her sister, Karen Holden; and her brother, Jeffrey Strabley; as well as her stepdaughters, Kacie Jenkins, Kristen Wallo; and stepgrandson, Reece Wallo.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Church of the Epiphany, 8000 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, Va. 23228. Donations can be made in Gayla's honor to the Church of Epiphany.
